Cover Artist, Moma De Louvre

These five paintings of the Spectrum Series below (including the front cover) are with Elena Peterfield as model. This beautiful, alive and incredibly expressive child modeled for over three hours. She delighted in the experience and expressed so much excitement over the completion of the paintings. I am working with her now on a children’s book, direct verbals of her imagination. This remarkable being is a creator. I wanted to paint her embodiment of this state.

The black and white energy layer: The four black and white studies below are spontaneous expressions, beginning with pure energy and working into tonality and form. This is one of the underlying layers in every painting I do. Most paintings have up to eighty layers of intention. Each layer must have this same sumi consciousness.

As the layers build other paintings are created. Each has its own spoke, spark, finger, probe, confabulation into areas of exhilarating connection, sparking the electricity of ignition born, vision and life. In each layer there is no preconception to the form that the expression will encounter.

Each experience with the tone grows of its own partaking of a zest of diverse wonders that exist. Each painting brings an expansion, a creation of energy, and finally an exploration in depth of that energy until it disappears over the horizon. Then there is an explosion as every color expresses each nuance of life as unexperienced by anyone yet.

The Heart of the Paintings: There is to me only one real viewpoint for life, for living and that is allowing the process of creative discovery to unfold. (More paintings at www.momadelouvre.com)
